At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES, 6 to 9 January 2016) in Las Vegas, the BMW Group is presenting a Vision Car to demonstrate what the interior and the user interface of the future might look like. The rapid advance of networking between driver, vehicle and environment is becoming increasingly intensive and is facilitating new services. One example of new technologies in seamlessly networked vehicles is provided by AirTouch. This feature empowers intuitive control of entertainment, navigation and communication functions using simple gestures made with a flat hand. AirTouch allows the display in a vehicle to be operated like a touchscreen without actually having to make contact with the surface. Sensors record the hand movements in the area between the central console and the interior mirror. This enables drivers or passengers to change the focus on the surface of the large panorama display. Simple confirmation selects the relevant menu item or activates an icon.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 21, 2015… BMW of North America, LLC (BMW NA) today announced it has entered into a Consent Order with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) which resolves issues raised in NHTSA’s Special Order issued to BMW NA on September 28, 2015 in regards to its execution of a MINI noncompliance recall campaign. The Consent Order also includes an admission by BMW NA that it did not comply in a timely fashion with various reporting requirements under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

BMW and Art Basel continue their joint initiative to recognize and support emerging artists worldwide with the announcement of the shortlist for the second BMW Art Journey during this year’s Art Basel in Miami Beach. Like a mobile studio, the BMW Art Journey can take artists almost anywhere in the world to develop new ideas and envision new creative projects.

BMW to Showcase the Intersection of Art, Design, and Cars in new Gallery at the Petersen Automotive Museum, the “Armand Hammer Foundation Gallery, presented by BMW of North America.”

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 3, 2015 . . . As the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles opens its doors to the public after undergoing massive renovations, BMW is proud to present its new gallery space – the Armand Hammer Foundation Gallery presented by BMW of North America. The gallery will exhibit three BMW Art Cars throughout 2016, as well as a Z4 used by artist Robin Rhode in 2009 to create BMW’s famous marketing epithet, “An Expression of Joy,” demonstrating BMW’s commitment to culture and the arts. BMW will also be the official transportation provider for the museum.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 1, 2015… Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 3.2 percent in November for a total of 32,003 compared to 31,019 vehicles sold in November, 2014. Year-to-date, BMW brand is up 4.4 percent from the same period last year with sales of 311,398 vehicles.
